Para el gran filósofo italiano Antonio Gramsci ?que vería pasar muchos años de su vida en la cárcel, bajo el imperio del fascismo?, ésta es la mejor de todas ellas, lo que no es poco decir cuando se trata del autor de dramas como "Seis personajes en busca de autor" o "Vestir al desnudo". El bello personaje Liolà da título a la obra original, que hoy en lengua castellana aparece bajo el título, más expresivo y siempre muy fiel, de "Amores sicilianos". Lo que hoy puede leerse como una comedia alegre e inocente fue objeto, cuando se estrenó en el Teatro Alfieri de Turín, de un gran ataque por parte de las Juventudes Católicas de la época; escándalo que al mismo Luigi Pirandello, luego admitido o tolerado por el régimen de Mussolini, le hizo retirarla de la circulación. La Colección Skene recibe con alegría este título en su catálogo, que, en definitiva, está presentando un rico panorama de los mejores autores dramáticos del siglo XX y de estos comienzos del siglo XXI.
