Sehr sauber erhalten. . - Max Ernst, Maler, Collagekünstler und Mitbegründer des Surrealismus, ist allen Kunstinteressierten ein Begriff. Weniger bekannt ist, mit welch außergewöhnlichen Frauen er ein leidenschaftliches Leben und die Liebe zur Kunst teilte. Mit seiner ersten Ehefrau, der Jüdin Luise Straus, zog er durch Dada-Köln. Die Kunsthistorikerin und Mutter des gemeinsamen Sohnes Jimmy wurde 1944 in Auschwitz ermordet. Fasziniert von Gala, der Ehefrau des Dichters Eluard und späteren Muse Salvador Dalis, ließ er sich auf ein spektakuläres Dreiecksverhältnis ein. Später verzauberte ihn die surrealistische Malerin, Schriftstellerin und Dramatikerin Leonora Carrington. Sie wurde seine Schülerin und neue Liebe. Das Künstlerpaar verband in gegenseitiger Inspiration eine beglückende Zusammenarbeit, die gewaltsam durch die Kriegswirren zerstört wurde. Die Flucht aus Nazi-Deutschland ermöglichte ihm 1941 Peggy Guggenheim. Die Ehe mit der amerikanischen Kunstsammlerin war jedoch von nur kurzer Dauer. 1943 lernte Ernst die surrealistische Malerin Dorothea Tanning kennen. Sie wurde seine vierte und letzte Ehefrau. Auch sie war, wie seine anderen Geliebten, unkonventionell, avantgardistisch und fantasievoll. In seinen Werken leben diese Frauen weiter: als Windsbräute, Hexen und Sphinxe.
