In 1816 she married her lover, the famous poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.In the summer of 1816 the famous couple went on a journey to Switzerland, accompanied by Mary's stepsister Claire, who arranged for them a meeting with her lover Lord Byron. It was published in September of that year in Burton's Gentleman's Magazine, of which Poe was assistant editor. Dennoch strömen jährlich Tausende von Kunstfreunden in die südliche Toskana um dort auf dem sogenannten Piero della Francesca Trail zu wandeln, auf dem sie die schönsten Werke des Malers der Frührenaissance bestaunen können. Das war nicht immer so. Lange war Piero eher für seine Wissenschaft als für seine Malerei bekannt, erst im 19. Jahrhundert erwachte nach und nach das Interesse der Kunstgeschichte an dem Künstler und seiner rational-geometrischen Kunst, die bis dato wenig Anklang gefunden hatte.Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Beziehung von Piero zu seiner Heimatstadt Sansepolcro.
