A study on Abu al-'Iz Ibn Isma'il ibn al-Razaz al-Jazari, (1136-1206). It's considered that he was pioneer in the field of cybernetics. He was a polymath; a scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, craftsman, artist, and mathematician from Jazirat ibn Umar (current Cizre, Ottoman Turkey), who lived during the Islamic Golden Age (Middle Ages). He is best known for writing the al-Jami? bain al-?ilm wa al-?amal al-nafi? fi ?ina?at al-?iyal (The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices) in 1206, where he described 100 mechanical devices, some 80 of which are trick vessels of various kinds, along with instructions on how to construct them. Some of his devices were inspired by earlier devices, such as one of his monumental water clocks, which was based on that of a Pseudo-Archimedes. He also cites the influence of the Banu Musa brothers (and also Leonardo Da Vinci) for his fountains, al-Asturlabi for the design of a candle clock, and Hibat Allah ibn al-Husayn (d. 1139) for musical automata. Al-Jazari goes on to describe the improvements he made to the work of his predecessors, and describes a number of devices, techniques and components that are original innovations which do not appear in the works by his precessors.

In den WarenkorbWith six finely polychrome illuminated sectional headings, featuring intricate floral and arabesque motifs in gold, white, and black ink. Manuscript on high-quality European paper, specially treated with rose-colored burnishing, black ink on paper (titles and occasional passages in red), text in two columns, 11 lines per page, in elegant and masterfully executed thuluth script, within gold and black ink borders; catchwords. 171 leaves. Complete. 8vo (7-1/4 x 4-1/2 inches). A spectacular Ottoman manuscript compendium of the key works on Qira'at or recitation of the Qur'an, prepared on rose-polished paper with meticulous craftsmanship, elaborate illuminated headpieces and calligraphy of the highest accomplishment. Each of the six treatises has a distinctive illuminated gilt headpiece with rose motifs; the first work includes two detailed tables. Occasional red ink is used for emphasis of single letters, diacritics, or words, guiding the reader through the complex textual structure. The manuscript contains the most authoritative works in Islamic Qira'at studies, featuring the seminal texts of Mu?ammad ibn Mu?ammad Ibn al-Jazar? (C.E. 1350-1429) and al-Q?sim ibn F?rruh Sh??ib? (C.E. 1144-1194). The collection includes: Nihayat al-Barara fi al-Q?râ?ât al-thalath al-za'idah 'ala al-Ashr Muqaddimat al-Jazariyyah (al-Muqadimmah fima yajib 'al al-Qari'in ya'limuhu) al-Durrah al-Mu??yyah fî Q?ra'at Kitab al-?ayyibah al-Nashr fi'l-Q?ra'at al-?ashr ?irz al-am?n? wa-wajh al-tah?n? (al-Sh??ib?yah) ?Aq?lat atr?b al-qa???id f? asná al-maq??id These texts represent the definitive canon of Qur'anic recitation, codifying the seven (Sab'a) and ten (Ashara) recitations that have shaped Islamic scholarly tradition for centuries. Ibn al-Jazari, an undisputed authority on Qira'at and Hadith, meticulously documented the transmission of the ten canonical recitations, ensuring their preservation and accuracy. His ?ayyibat al-Nashr became a cornerstone of Qur'anic studies, influencing generations of scholars. ?ât?bî, an Andalusian master of Qur'anic recitation, revolutionized didactic poetry, with his ?irz al-am?n? wa-wajh al-tah?n? (known as al-Sh??ib?yah) serving as a primary instructional text for centuries. The manuscript bears two ownership inscriptions, along with marginal annotations identifying book titles and scholarly commentary. It is unsigned but distinctly Ottoman in its execution, and with a calligraphic verse couplet in Turkish following one of the texts. The careful compilation, high-quality materials, and extraordinary calligraphy point to a prestigious patronage, likely commissioned by a high-ranking scholar or institution. A masterpiece of Islamic calligraphy, illumination, and scholarly transmission. Nineteenth-century Ottoman brown goatskin binding, boards tooled with with red and gold sunburst medallions and intricate cornerpieces, within a wavy geometric gilt border, green-dyed paper endsheets; later ink titles on fore edges.
