Leben: Tom Tykwer wurde 1965 in Wuppertal geboren, wo die Eltern Kurt und Anna Tykwer einen Trödelladen betrieben. Mit elf Jahren drehte er seine ersten Super-8-Filme und arbeitete mit dreizehn als Filmvorführer. In Berlin wurde er 1988 Geschäftsführer des Moviemento-Filmtheaters in Berlin-Kreuzberg. 1992 gründete er mit dem Produzenten Stefan Arndt die Firma Liebesfilm und inszenierte zunächst als Regisseur zwei Kurzfilme. Mit Die tödliche Maria und Winterschläfer gelangen ihm sodann viel beachtete Anfangserfolge. Der Film stellt einen Interpol-Agenten und eine New Yorker Staatsanwältin in den Mittelpunkt, die planen, die illegalen Aktivitäten einer mächtigen Großbank aufzudecken. Zum weiteren Schauspielensemble gehören unter anderem Armin Mueller-Stahl, Ulrich Thomsen und James Rebhorn. Der Thriller eröffnete Anfang Februar 2009 die 59. Auflage der Filmfestspiele von Berlin, wo er außer Konkurrenz gezeigt wurde. Februar 2009 auf der 59. Berlinale uraufgeführt und lief dort außer Konkurrenz. Im November 2009 drehte Tykwer in und um Berlin den tragikomischen Film Drei, seinen ersten in deutscher Sprache seit zehn Jahren. It seems Rudolph Ackermann (1764-1834), the famous lithographer from London, may have also been involved in the production of these plates as his name is on the plates themselves. / Gaimard, a French naval surgeon and naturalist, built an observatory at Bossekop, Finnmark, where he made his scientific observations of the Arora Borealis. There were 10 striking lithographs used to illustrate the Atlas geologique, among the most impressive astronomical images produced during the period. Gaimard's expedition of 1838-40, supported by the French King Louis Philippe, "included [an international team of] nine French and ten Scandinavian scientists, historians and painters. The aims and scope of the expedition was to explore almost every aspect of nature, climate and human life in northernmost Europe, including Spitsbergen. . . . Do not confuse with the 1938 edition, which has only 41 plates, or an identically titled German publication from 1940. Small stamp on portfolio front board.
