This autobiographical book gives an overview of her childhood in Australia, her career as an actress, and then as a photographer using the professional name Alice Springs. It ends with a postscript explaining Helmut's death at the Château Marmont on 23 January 2004, with a brief sequence of photographs made by June at this time.

Robin Gibson worked at the National Portrait Gallery, London from 1968 - 2001, and served as the head curator from 1994 until his retirement. During his time at the Gallery, he was responsible for many innovations, including the addition of sculpture, photography, and film to the collections, as well as redesigns of the galleries, reinvigorating the museum and modernizing it. Australian actress June Brown married Helmut Newton in 1948. Taking her pseudonym from the Australian town, Alice Springs, she became a successful photographer in her own right, with 6 portraits hanging in the National Portrait Gallery in London, four more than her more famous husband. A wonderful association between an artist and a curator who recognized her talent. Fine and unread in green boards, 4.5 x 6.25 inches, with a die-cut on the front board and with no dust jacket as issued.
