By mid 1940 the folly of this statement had been revealed and the first Luftwaffe nightfighter wing was formed. Their effectiveness was greatly enhanced by the creation of a radar chain stretching from Denmark to Switzerland. By 1942 the Luftwaffe was equiped with some 389 fighters fitted with advanced airbourne radar which helped to destroy hundreds of RAF bombers. This detailed text explains the conflict and tactics flown and includes interviews with some of the leading aces. Na jare 1941 bojoval znovu u Kanalu La Manche a od prvniho dne se ucastnil operace Barbarossa. Zazil ohromne uspechy v lete 1941 i katastrofu pod Moskvou behem prvni ruske zimy 1941. Na jare 1942 se vratil na vychodni frontu a ucastnil se letni ofenzivy na jiznim useku fronty a utoku na Stalingrad. Sve nejvetsi uspechy pak dosahl behem boju nad stalingradskym kotlem, kde zaznamenal sve stopadesate vzdusne vitezstvi. Na jare 1943 byl prelozen do severni Afriky a stal se velitelem JG 77. S tou prodelal porazku Afrikakorpsu, ustup na Sicilii a boje na italske fronte v letech 1943-1944. Do Nemecka se vratil na podzim tehoz roku a v prosinci se stal velitelem prvni proudove JG 7. V roce 1945 se ucastnil zname vzpoury Kommodoru a na samem konci valky letal na Me 262 u legendarni jednotky es, JV 44. Sestrelil 178 nepratelskych letounu, sam byl dvanactkrat sestrelen a odletal celkem 993 bojovych letu.Prave to se stalo duvodem k napsani teto knihy. Na osudech Johannese Steinhoffa lze zmapovat historii Luftwaffe, od jejich zacatku v tricatych letech, pres obdobi, kdy dokazala opanovat vzdusny prostor jak nad zapadni Evropou, tak nad obrovskymi prostory vychodni fronty. Stejne tak zazil upadek ve druhe polovine valky az po naproste zniceni na jare 1945. Pokusil jsem zachytit i valecna tazeni, jejichz se ucastnil a udalosti u jednotek, jimz velel. Johannes Steinhoff valku prezil. Casto se k valecnym udalostem vracel ve svych vzpominkach, ktere i publikoval. Take poskytoval rozhovory leteckym historikum, a tak po sobe zanechal mnoho popisu tehdejsich udalosti, jak je videl ze sveho pohledu. Johannes Steinhoff rozhodne nebyl nejaky fanaticky nacista. Adolf Hitler ani Herman Goring mu nijak neimponovali, s jejich nazory nesouhlasil a zvlast s Goringem se dostaval do vaznych sporu. Presto vsak za vitezstvi Treti rise bojoval vice nez pet let a nikdy pro sebe nevidel jinou moznost. Under sin tid i såväl Reval som Tartu ägnar sig Jochum förutom studier även åt körsång. På en körfestival lär Herman känna den unga vackra Margareeta Kappel. Herman von Rettich stupar i Första Världskriget. Efter att Lenin och bolsjevikerna tagit makten i Ryssland blir situationen allt mera trängd för Margareeta och Jochum. Vänskapen med tsarfamiljen ses inte på med blida ögon. Margareeta och Jochum flyr nyårsnatten 1918 till Helsingfors. På resan blir Margareeta bekant med Senator P E Svinhufvud. Senatorn hjälper Margareeta och Jochum att fly vidare till Pärnu och pensionatet Hohenhausen. Margareeta bedriver pensionatet tillsamman med Jochum och får glädjande många gäster till exempel Maini Askolin, Amos Andersson, fru Ellen Svinhufvud, Hermann Göring och familjen Petterson. Jochum och fröken Birgitta Petterson gifter sig med varandra. Speciellt Jochum vurmar för nazismen och paret flyttar med sin son Herman dy till Thorn i Polen hösten 1939 för att bygga upp Det Tredje Riket i öster. Situationen blir ohållbar i början av 1945. Jochum tillfångatas av bolsjevikerna och förs till fångläger i Sibirien. Birgitta återvänder till Sverige med Bernadottes vita bussar. 9789527224960.
