Muriel Stuart (1901-1991) was an English-born ballerina who danced with Anna Pavlova and later was the leading teacher at the American School of Ballet. Stuart first auditioned for Pavola when she was 8 years old and joined Pavlova's troupe at age 13, dancing with her until 1926.

Special issue - 4e Année, No 18 - of the beautifully produced Parisian stage, theatre, and ballet monthly, dedicated to the Ballets Russes's new production, L'Après-midi d'un faune, published a little over two weeks after its first performance, at the Théâtre du Châtelet on 29 May 1912. It caused a sensation and marks "a break absolute with classic tradition" (Kirstein, p. 198). The front wrapper features a photograph of a classically-inspired bas relief by F. David, showing the Faun and Nymph locking arms. The eight-page centre section pictures Nijinksy in the notorious faun costume and nymphs in "clinging pleated shifts reminiscent of korai, the standing sculptures of draped maidens deriving from Egypt and Phoenicia" (ibid.). The layout echoes Nijinsky's vision in which the dancers' poses recall sixth-century Greek vases and stone reliefs. Further spreads are devoted to Oscar Wilde's Salome and to the dancers of Ravel's one-act ballet Daphnis et Chloé, which had also recently premiered; in addition, there is a full page of caricatures by Jean Dulac, featuring Ravel, Fokine, Stravinsky and Bakst.
