Juni 1975 in Bad Langensalza) ist eine deutsche Schauspielerin. Im Alter von fünf Jahren zog Radost Bokel 1980 mit ihrer Mutter und ihrem Bruder von ihrer Heimatstadt Halle (Saale) nach Frankfurt am Main, nachdem ihre Mutter einen Ausreiseantrag aus der DDR gestellt hatte. Ihr slawischer Vorname stammt von ihrem bulgarischstämmigen Vater, den sie jedoch nie kennenlernte.[1] Nach eigenen Angaben hat Radost Bokel familiäre Roma-Wurzeln.[2] In Frankfurt machte Bokel ihr Abitur am Gymnasium Schillerschule[3]. Zu dieser Zeit sammelte sie erste Bühnenerfahrungen: sie verbrachte die Nachmittage in einem Kinderhort, mit dem sie als Eliza in My Fair Lady sowie als Mogli im Dschungelbuch bei Aufführungen in Altersheimen auftrat. She is also an accomplished amateur athlete, with a marathon personal best time of 2:54:39.[2] Early life McAndrew was born in Leeds on 6 November 1973. She has an older sister and two younger brothers. Sport McAndrew's time in the 2005 London Marathon was fast enough that she qualified to run in the British Championship women's race in future events.[11] For the 2008 Great North Run, she competed with the fun runners dressed as Wonder Woman to help raise funds for charity. In March 2012 McAndrew was the first woman across the finish line in the five-mile National Lottery Olympic Park Run in a personal best time of 29 minutes and 21 seconds.[12] With a marathon personal best time of 3:08:25, McAndrew was aiming for her first sub-three-hour marathon in the 2012 London Marathon: "2:59:59 I'd be ecstatic, but if I could get anything under 3:08 I've still got a personal best, which is still amazing, but it's just that kind of magic number of three hours . I just want to get under that three hours."[13] She went on to finish the race in 2:54:39, beating her previous personal best by 13 minutes and 46 seconds. Subsequently commentators Steve Cram and Brendan Foster noted that only 88 British women had run a sub-3-hour marathon during 2011.[14] It was 47th fastest time by a Britis.

In very good condition. Banned upon its initial publication, the now-classic Candy is a romp of a story about the impossibly sweet Candy Christian, a wide-eyed, luscious, all-American girl. Candy â"â" a satire of Voltaireâs Candide â"â" chronicles her adventures with mystics, sexual analysts, and everyone she meets when she sets out to experience the world. In 2006, Playboy Magazine listed Candy among the "25 Sexiest Novels Ever Written", and described the story as a "young heroine's picaresque travels, a kind of sexual pinball machine that lights up academia, gardeners, the medical profession, mystics and bohemians." The novel was made into a film by Christian Marquand in 1968 as Candy.

Fisher was Haley's longtime editor, who helped greatly shape his best-known works, Roots, as well as this title, The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Fisher edited several of Haley's interviews for Playboy before leaving the magazine and Chicago in 1974, moving to Los Angeles to help Haley edit his epic, Roots. Haley thanked him in the acknowledgments when the book was published in 1976: "Murray Fisher had been my editor for years at Playboy magazine when I solicited his clinical expertise to help me structure this book from a seeming impassable maze of researched materials. After we had established Roots pattern of chapters, next the story line was developed, which he then shepherded throughout. [.] Finally, in the book's pressurized completion phase, he even drafted some of Roots scenes, and his brilliant editing pen steadily tightened the book's great length." Haley was completely overwhelmed by working on Roots, at one point, he expected the book to be published in three volumes spanning over 1800 pages. Fisher spent six years to organizing and polish the massive amounts of research material Haley gathered for Roots. Fisher came to play such an important role in developing Roots that Haley gave him ten percent of the book's literary rights and five percent of the motion picture rights. According to historian Robert J. Norrell, "Haley wrote the two most influential books in African-American history in the second half of the 20th century," Norrell notes, referring to The Autobiography of Malcolm X (1965) and Roots: The Saga of an American Family (1976). Two notebooks by Mary Huntington Morgan, a noted Gilded Age socialite and diarist, recording a lecture series given by one of the most famous speakers of the age, Professor William Lyons Phelps. Phelps (1865-1943) was an American educator, literary critic, and author. He taught English at Yale from 1892 until 1933, where he championed modern literature through his public lectures, radio show, and newspaper column. He taught America's first university course on the modern novel, a move which brought him worldwide acclaim and earned him the disapproval of his peers. In 1939, Time magazine proclaimed him a "literary showman, playboy of the humanities, Dale Carnegie of the critics", and at the height of his popularity as a public speaker, his audiences numbered nearly 1,000 attendees. Morgan (1873-1966), a socialite and daughter of the US Treasurer Daniel Nash Morgan, was a dedicated lecture-goer and note-taker. She lived in New Haven with her husband Daniel Edwards Brinsmade (a Yale graduate), and writes here under her married name of Brinsmade, filling two memorandum books with her records of Phelps's lectures. She begins on 12 October 1926 and appears to have attended on an almost weekly basis until March 1933, except the months of April through September, when Phelps paused his talks for the summer. She dedicates between one and three pages to each lecture and appears to have treated the lectures as a way of compiling a reading list. Gulliver's Travels is described as "a terrible satire. [by a] most consistent pessimist, a depth of despair beyond our understanding", Somerset Maugham's Cakes and Ale "made a scandal in England as a leading character seems to have drawn from Thomas Hardy. a terrible book, clever and sharp", and Jane Austen, an author whom Phelps was instrumental in popularizing in the USA, is deemed "a moral genius. Her works more vital to-day than when she wrote them and they will be so 3,000 years from now. She was under 21 when she wrote Pride and Prejudice". Other authors listed and appraised include Willa Cather, Thornton Wilder, Vita Sackville-West, Edna St Vincent Millay, Upton Sinclair, Samuel Richardson, Hugh Walpole, Edna Ferber, and D. H. Lawrence ("negligible"). Besides Phelps's literary commentary, anecdotes are referenced ("Prof Phelps described a visit to Mr and Mrs Henry Ford at Dearborn") and political opinions recorded, including remarks on unemployment in 1929, at the height of the Depression. Non-literary figures featured include D. L. Moody, the American evangelist and publisher, and Clifford Beers, the founder of the American mental hygiene movement. This eyewitness account offers an engrossing reading list of early 20th-century American and world literature, guided by commentary from one of the most popular educationalists of the day. No further editions or printings were issued separately until the complete edition of 1973, although sections were printed in various magazines, such as Playboy, The Beats, Transatlantic Review, and a few others. Reviewing the final version of the text, one New York Times critic observed, "you will find some of Kerouac's very best writing in this book. It is funny, it is serious. It is eloquent. To read 'On the Road' but not 'Visions of Cody' is to take a nice sightseeing tour but to forgo the spectacular rapids of Jack Kerouac's wildest writing" (Latham). Charters A9. Archive of thirteen vintage oversize photographs by director Russ Meyer, including twelve in color and one in black-and-white. Five photographs signed by Meyer on the verso. All of the photographs are from an edition of 20 and are numbered on the verso, with all twelve color photographs numbered "1/20," and the black and white photograph numbered "2/20." Struck circa 2001, from Meyer's personal collection. Meyer is best known for his distinctive films in the sexploitation genre of the 1960s and 1970s, but also worked as a still photographer throughout his career, shooting for Playboy in the magazine's early years, including three centerfolds, one of which starred his then-wife, Eve Meyer. The earliest photographs in the collection, consistent with the "nudist" aesthetic of the period, are "Model Playing Ping Pong" (circa 1962), and "Blonde in the Grass" (circa 1964). Notable in the archive are images of Meyer regulars Lorna Maitland and Haji. Three of the photographs show the titular (sorry, we couldn't resist) star of Meyer's final film, "Pandora Peaks" (2001). All photographs 11 x 14 inches. Fine. Two matted with 8 ply archival mats, with mats measuring 16 x 20 inches. Four with remnants of archival tape in the top margins. Jiri Sliva was born on 4 July 1947 in Pilsen. Since 1966 he lives in Prague. He studied at the University of Economics and after graduation in 1971 worked at the Institute for Philosophy and Sociology of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Department forecasters. His first drawing was published in 1972 in the Annex Weekend of the magazine Mladá fronta. Since 1979 works as a freelance artist. He is concentrating mainly to cartoon and illustration, and later also to the graphic art lithography, etching and dry needle and since 1995 also to the oil painting. The artworks of Jiri Sliva have been exhibited in numerous individual exhibitions in Europe and overseas (we can mention at least cities like Rome, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Vienna, Moscow, New York, Havana, and many others). For his inventive creative work was awarded many important prizes at international cartoon competitions and festivals all over the world. He is often invited as a jury member of prestigious competitions. He published over 15 his own books of cartoons in Germany, Switzerland, France, USA and the Czech Republic. His drawings have appeared in more than 150 books and in many Czech and foreign newspapers and magazines such as New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Playboy, Die Welt, Die Zeit, Nebelspalter, Eulenspiegel, Artworks of Jiri Sliva are represented in the permanent collections of several Czech and foreign museums and galleries, as well as in private collections.
