Guter Zustand. - Suzanne Valadon, eigentlich Marie-Clémentine Valadon, (* 1865 in Bessines-sur-Gartempe, Haute-Vienne; + 1938 in Paris), französische Malerin. Mit 15 Jahren war ihr der Montmartre vertraut. Sie lernte Maler kennen, die sie zum Zirkus Mollier brachten, da sie unbedingt Trapezkünstlerin werden mochte. Ein Unfall bei einem ihrer waghalsigen Sprünge beendete diese Karriere. Sie wurde nun als Modell bekannt, zuerst für Puvis de Chavannes, dann für Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec und viele andere Maler, die sich noch einen Namen machen sollten. Mit den meisten von ihnen, so wurde vermutet, hatte sie Affären, wobei die älteren unter ihnen dabei die in der Jugend vermisste Vaterfigur für Suzanne dargestellt haben könnten.Die Liebesaffäre mit Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec wurde für Suzanne Valadon eine ganz besondere. Er war es auch, der ihr ihren Künstlernamen Suzanne gab, da Marie seiner Ansicht nach ein viel zu braver Name sei, wo er sie doch so leidenschaftlich und wild kenne. Die Beziehung der beiden endete, als Suzanne drohte, sich umzubringen, wenn Toulouse-Lautrec sie nicht heirate. Er tat es nicht, und die Beziehung zerbrach. Suzanne, die auch der "Kobold der Butte" (frz. butte - Hügel, gemeint ist der Montmartrehügel) genannt wurde, hat als Autodidaktin niemals eine Akademie besucht. Sie erlernte ihren neuen Beruf, indem sie aufmerksam die Maler bei ihrer Arbeit beobachtete und studierte. Während der 7 Jahre als Modell bei Renoir hatte dieser sie einst bei einer Arbeit an einem Selbstportrait überrascht, und Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, der während ihrer Beziehung zufällig einige Zeichnungen entdeckte, schickte sie mit den besten davon zu seinem großen Idol, dem Maler Edgar Degas. Der fast blinde, menschenscheue Maler und große Künstler fand Gefallen an Suzannes Zeichnungen. Die beiden wurden sehr gute Freunde; eine Freundschaft, auf die Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec lange mit Eifersucht reagierte. Degas lehrte sie die Kunst der Radierung in der Technik des Weißlackverfahrens. 1895 wurden ihre erste Radierungen veröffentlicht. Degas war es auch, der die ersten Zeichnungen von ihr kaufte und ihre Werke bei Kunstsammmlern und -händlern einführte.1893 hatte Suzanne Valadon eine kurze Liebesaffäre mit dem Komponisten Eric Satie. Dieser machte ihr noch in der Nacht ihres Kennenlernens einen Heiratsantrag, den sie jedoch ablehnte. Einige Monate später trennten sich die beiden wieder. 1894 gestaltete Suzanne Valadon ihre erste Ausstellung im Salon de Nationale. 1896 heiratete sie den reichen Bankier Paul Mousis, der ihr ein gesichertes Leben bot ein Leben, das sie langweilte. Schon zu ihren Lebzeiten war Suzanne Valadon eine der bedeutendsten Malerinnen ihrer Zeit und über die Grenzen Frankreichs hinaus bekannt. Her volatile nature, her sensuality found fallow ground in the surging, twisted streets of Montmartre, where her mother, lost in an alcoholic fog, sought oblivion. Her early antics as an outrageous gamine did little to indicate the creative and emotional richness that were to distinguish the later life of this tiny and vivid person. By the time Suzanne was in her teens, she not only was a favorite model of the Montmartre artists, but had found a means of expression in her won passionate and spontaneous painting. As a close friend of Lautrec and Degas, as the mistress of Renoir, Satie and countless other artists, and as the wife of the much younger Utter, the fabric of her life consisted of two dominant threads -- the love of painting and the love of love. Alternating between extreme affluence and poverty, it was not until her son, Maurice Utrillo, was in his teens that she became obsessed by her role as mother. Convinced that her son was the greatest living painter, tormented by his maniacal urge toward self destruction, she attacked the problems of motherhood with the same intensity with which she pursued admiration. Her battle for Maurice's sanity and love, however, was waged too late, and she met her ultimate defeat in a lonely, wistful withdrawal into herself and the past.

Un volume in folio, couverture souple éditeur, 1er plat de couleur bleu gris avec le simple nom de OGUISS enlettres blanches. Cet ouvrage qui s'ouvre sur un superbe frontispice (rue de Charenton, 1954) contient 50 reproductions en noir et en couleurs d'oeuvres du peintre japonais OGUISS (1901-1986) dont le portrait photographique, en noir, figure à la suite de la page de titre. OGUISS fut l'ami de FOUJITA , de Maurice UTRILLO et de tous les peintres parisiens de cette époque, ceux de la RUCHE, de Montparnasse et de Montmartre. On lui doit de nombreuses vues d'un PARIS encore récent mais disparu. Dans la préface de Georges HUISMAN, on peut lire ceci: "ce qu'OGUISS se plait à peindre à travers Paris, c'est le pitoyable décor où vivent tant de braves gens pour lesquels la vie n'a pas toujours été clémente, ce Paris où passent tant de gens qui souffrent, qui pleurent, qui rient et paraissent sortis des films de René CLAIR ou de Marcel CARNÉ, des poèmes de PRÉVERT, des romans de CARCO ou des chansons de Maurice CHEVALIER et d'Yves MONTAND". Les cinquantes reproductions sont listées en fin de volume, avec leurs titres, leurs dimensions et leurs dates d'exécution. Un musée est consacré à OGUISS dans la ville japonaise d'Inazawa où son atelier de la cité "Montmartre-aux-artistes" a été reconstitué. Reliure doublée à tiges en plein veau aniline blanc, décor peint en nuance de vert opaline et de gris se prolongeant sur les doublures bords à bords, tiges de titane et gardes volantes de papier assorties. Cet ouvrage, présentant toutes les époques de l'artiste montmartrois, fut publié à l'occasion de l'exposition consacrée aux uvres de Maurice Utrillo organisée en 1947 à la galerie de Paul Pétridès. Monté sur onglet en tête de l'ouvrage, un sonnet autographe intitulé "L'Art pictural" signé de Maurice Utrillo adressé à Francisque Poulbot ; deux quatrains et deux tercets rédigés à l'encre noire sur un papier pelure ligné. Précédant ce poème, le peintre a précisé : "Sonnet par Maurice, Utrillo, V, < dédié à son ami et confrère < Georges Kars." En tête du feuillet, se trouve un envoi autographe signé d'Utrillo : "Amicalement à Francisque Poulbot". Quelques taches marginales ne gênant pas la lecture. Le sonnet a été publié dans ART, vol. 2 (octobre 1934-juillet 1935, p. 9). Ce beau poème, véritable chant d'indépendance picturale doublement signé par Utrillo, est adressé à une figure incontournable de la vie montmartroise, le dessinateur Francisque Poulbot. L'exceptionnelle offrande manuscrite réunit des monuments vivants de la Butte, marqués par la bohème et l'ivresse : Utrillo, Poulbot, ainsi que Georges Kars, artiste tchèque installé à Montmartre dont Utrillo célèbre la peinture à travers ce sonnet. Utrillo adresse ces vers en 1928 à Francisque Poulbot, ancien camarade du lycée Rollin devenu dessinateur renommé, goguettier et fondateur de la République de Montmartre. Poulbot croqua le peintre à de nombreuses reprises dans ses chères rues montmartroises, pinceau dans une main et bouteille dans l'autre, la silhouette du Sacré-Cur veillant sur cette âme damnée à l'ascendance incertaine. Ils séjournèrent tous deux à différentes périodes au 12 rue Cortot, mythique adresse de la Butte, devenue musée de Montmartre. L'année de l'envoi de ce sonnet, Utrillo peint une superbe gouache représentant la maison de Poulbot avenue Junot, en plein cur de ce « bidonville de la Bohème » dont les uvres d'Utrillo capturent le charme aujourd'hui disparu. Connu pour sa peinture, Utrillo trouve cependant dans la poésie une forme de rédemption à ses épisodes de folie éthylique. Considéré par ses amis comme un « bâtisseur de sonnets ou de quatrains dithyrambiques », ses vers feront l'objet d'un article élogieux de Félix Fénéon. Utrillo fait également appel à la poésie pour célébrer ses voisins artistes montmartrois. Il écrit ce poème en l'honneur du peintre tchèque Georges Kars, en remerciement d'un saisissant portrait de lui exposé à la galerie Berthe Weill : « [.] Qu'il me soit donc ici permis en compagnon Sincère et noble et pur, en non troubleur en rond, Sur cet Art pictural, d'émettre un trait austère, Georges Kars, en ce lieu de digne réunion, Rue Laffitte, chez Weill, de l'art porte-fanion, S'affirme en ses tableaux inventif et sincère. » Kars s'était établi à Montmartre en 1908 et passa de nombreux étés à Cadaquès avec sa femme en compagnie d'Utrillo et de sa mère, Suzanne Valadon. A travers ces vers dédiés aux lignes pures de « son ami et confrère » Kars, Utrillo célèbre l'indépendance et la personnalité picturale émancipée de tout mouvement artistique, qui le caractérisent lui-même : peintre autodidacte, il s'affranchit ici de l'académisme et même des avant-gardes d'au.

Danach lebte er als Dichter in großer Armut in Paris. Er kehrte nach einigen Jahren nach Rouen zurück und arbeitete dort als Korrektor. Von 1905 bis 1908 vagabundierte er durch Belgien, England, Italien und Südfrankreich. Danach lebte Dumarchey als Bohémien am Montmartre in Paris. Er befreundete sich mit Schriftstellern wie Guillaume Apollinaire, Francis Carco, Roland Dorgelès und Max Jacob, sowie mit den Malern Maurice Utrillo, Pablo Picasso Juan Gris und Georges Braque. 1913 heiratet er Marguerite Luc.Dumarchey nahm am Ersten Weltkrieg teil. He is the grandson of the artist painter André Lengrand who was friend of Maurice Utrillo, Gen Paul, and Maclet with whom he exposed at the Cambaceres Gallery in Paris.Gifted with a precocious talent, at 12 years, JM began to paint with the teaching of his grandfather. At 16 years, he entered the Academy Farrey in Montmartre, followed by the Moussiau Academy in Bourges (France).In 1974, he specialized in the secret techniques of the old masters, specifically the art of painting with amber of Venice and essential oils on wood. This technique was made famous by the Flemish painter Jan van Eyck (1400) and is called "The Flemish's secret".In 1977, he received the silver medal in the National French Artists Art Fair in Paris. In this time he met Marc Havel, a French chemist and director of the paintings restoration department of The Louvre, with whom he had many conversations on the practices of the ancient masters. From 1979 to 1989, Jean-Michel Lengrand engraved, printed and painted hundreds of etchings in limited editions.In 1985, he studied sculpting in Budapest (Hungary) in the atelier of the academician Lazlo Kùtas, and completed several limited editions bronzes.In 1995, he published "The Treatise of the Metaphysical of Art" (editions Soleil Natal, France), his first book on the philosophy of painting. This first book was followed by "The Metaphysical of Art", illustrated with 100 color photos of paintings and was released in Dutch, English and French (Editions van Spijk, Venlo The Netherlands and Antwerp Belgium).In 1995, he left Europe for the West Indies where he resided at Saint Martin where he now has an atelier for painting, a second for engraving, etching and printing. The third atelier is being installed to incorporate a stone lithographic press.
