Red cloth. Lovely elaborate gilt design (incl. titles) on front cover. Small stain to top of back cover, minor rubbing to edges of boards, a bit of dusting to cloth. Bookplate on front paste-down, "Ex Libris Emilae Reif, Norimberga'. Minor spotting, mild damstain to bottom corner of final pages. Hans Christian Anderson (1805-1875) was a Danish author best remembered today for his children's fairy stories. This is a German publication by Wagner of Anderson's 1852 story, "The Loveliest Rose in the World." Anderson's storytelling went on to inspire a new generation of children's authors in the late-nineteenth century such as Lewis Carroll, Kenneth Graham, Oscar Wilde, Beatrix Potter, and A. A. Milne.
