Stangl studierte Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig und war Meisterschülerin des Künstlers Volker Pfüller. Unterstützt wurde ihre Arbeit bei dem brasilianischen Holzschneider José F. Borges durch ein Stipendium des DAAD. Katrin Stangl erhielt den Gestalterpreis 2001 der Büchergilde Gutenberg für die Illustration des Romans Fahrenheit 451 von Ray Bradbury. Im Jahr 2005 erhielt sie den Birknerpreis für ihre Illustrationen. Gerda Raidt (* 2. März 1975 in Berlin) ist eine deutsche Illustratorin. Gerda Raidt studierte zunächst freie Grafik an der Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle und später in der Illustrationsklasse von Volker Pfüller an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury was first published in 1953 by Ballantine Books. The novel originated from Bradbury's shorter work, "The Fireman," published in Galaxy Science Fiction in 1951. It won the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature in 1954 and a Retro Hugo Award in 2004.

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Joseph Mugnaini (illustrator). One of the scarcest of all copies within the limitation of the 2,000 copies signed by both Ray Bradbury and the illustrator Joe Mugnaini. This is a "lettered" copy (letter 'G') and, just below the signatures at the limitation, states in blindstamp: "ONE OF 26 PRESENTATION COPIES, OUT OF SERIES". One can certainly assume that almost all of these Presentation copies were given to close friends and family of Bradbury, Mugnaini and the publisher, and that very few of these "lettered" copies reached the market. This is a very sharp copy to boot. Clean and easily Near Fine in its aluminum boards, with both the cautionary slip ("Fragile: This Book Is Bound in Aluminum -- Sensitive to the touch") and the Monthly Letter of the Limited Editions Club laid-in. Quarto, nicely illustrated thuout by Mugnaini. Also includes a handsome, very sturdy example of the matching aluminum slipcase, with just a touch of very faint rubbing at the panels.

Provenance of sci-fi fan, John Wasso, Jr. (1906-1987) who would often pen letters to pulp magazines Weird Tales and Captain Future from Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania.

First hardback edition, first printing, of the author's best-known work. Though preceded by a softcover edition, the hardback is more desirable. This is the trade issue, in Currey's D binding (no priority); there was also a signed limited issue of 200 copies. Published at the height of the Cold War, Fahrenheit 451 is a classic in the dystopian canon, widely cited by defenders of freedom of thought, speech, and print. It includes Bradbury's short stories "The Playground" and "And the Rock Cried Out" which were omitted in later printings as the titular story grew in popularity. Currey, p. 55. Octavo. Fine, with light ambient toning to the boards, light offsetting to the front free endpaper and contents lightly tanned. In a Fine dust jacket, with absolutely no fading (we have never seen one without fading); two micro-tears to the edge, a minuscule crease to the top corner of the rear panel and trivial rubbing at the folds. The classic dystopian, anti-censorship novel, plus two short stories "The Playground" and "The Rock Cried Out." A sought-after signed limited edition with the dust jacket extremely uncommon in such impeccable condition. Truly a sight to behold.

Subtle abrasion to inscribed page. A very bright and clean copy. A very uncommon format of one of Bradbury's best-known works, even scarcer than the asbestos binding, of which 200 copies were issued.
