Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Das Zacherlhaus befindet sich im Herzen Wiens nur 180 Meter vom Wiener Stephansdom entfernt und ist eines der bedeutendsten Bauwerke der Otto-Wagner-Schule. Joesef Ple nik, der später an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Prag unterrichtete und Laibach ab etwa 1925 städtebaulich umgestaltete, errichtete es für den Bauherren Johann Zacherl in den Jahren 1903 1905. Es wurde als erstes Wohn- und Geschäftsgebäude modernen Stils in der Altstadt errichtet und zählt zu seinen bekanntesten Gebäuden in Wien. Im Buch kommen ausschließlich Experten für mitteleuropäische Architektur des 20. Jahrhunderts zu Wort, wie z.B. Ákos Moravánszky und Kenneth Frampton. Eine gründliche Renovierung die 2015 abgeschlossen sein wird, ist Anlass für diese großzügig bebilderte, repräsentative Dokumentation.

Anlass der neuen Auflage war eine Ausstellung im Gospodarsko razstavisce in Ljubljana 1986, wobei der Katalog einen repräsentativen Querschnitt der Arbeit Plecniks (1872 - 1957) zeigen will. - Ein Großteil der von Ple?nik verantworteten Laibacher Stadtgestaltung wurde 2009 als nationales Kulturerbe Sloweniens unter Schutz gestellt und 2021 von der UNESCO unter dem Titel ?Die Werke von Jo?e Ple?nik in Ljubljana ? am Menschen orientierte Stadtgestaltung? in die Liste des Welterbes aufgenommen (vgl. UNESCO World Heritage Centre: The works of Jo?e Ple?nik in Ljubljana ? Human Centred Urban Design). Plecnik war als Schüler Otto Wagners u.a. auch verantwortlich für den Bau der Villa Loos sowie beteiligt an der Planung einiger Stadtbahnstationen in Wien. Er war ein wichtiger Architekt der frühen Moderne, der die Entstehung des Wiener Jugendstils entscheidend mitprägte und gleichzeitig gilt seine Architektur als außergewöhnliches Beispiel des kritischen Regionalismus und stellt eine der wenigen Alternativen zum Uniformitarismus des sogenannten Internationalen Stils dar. - Enthält zahlreiche fotogr. Abb. von Plecniks Arbeiten in s/w, oft ganzseitig; ebenso einige Pläne auf Transparentpapier. - Schutzumschlag berieben u. mit minimalen Randläsuren, Leinenband an Ecken leicht bestoßen. Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Joze Plecnik (1872-1957) studierte bei Otto Wagner in Wien. 1911 übernahm er den Lehrstuhl von Jan Kotera in Prag. Seine Wiener Bauten sind Landmarken, in Prag wurde er zum Architekten der Prager Burg, und in den 1920er-Jahren begann er den Umbau seiner Heimatstadt Ljubljana. Über Plecnik wurde viel geforscht und publiziert. Valenas Betrachtungen zeigen jedoch neue Aspekte seines Schaffens auf: sein Wirken in Prag, den Einfluss der römisch-italienischen Inspiration in seinem Werk, den Umgang mit 'natürlichem' Gelände, die Rolle des Bestands bei der Entwicklung neuer liturgischer Raumkonzepte in Kirchenumbauten und die Frage, inwiefern es bei 'Plecniks Ljubljana' angemessen ist, von humanistischem Stadtumbau zu sprechen - die Themen des neuen Plecnik-Buchs sind für Einsteiger und Experten gleichermaßen interessant.
