This bound volume of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine contains an article entitled "Nikola Tesla" which appears in the February 1894 issue on pages 582-585. The Tesla Universe website states this to be Tesla's earliest biographical text. The article contains a 2/3 page black and white engraving of Tesla from the famous photo by Sarony, and was written by Thomas Commerford Martin, who would go on to write about Tesla's Oscillator and other inventions in the April 1895 issue of this publication. Maroon half-leather binding intact. A modicum of insect damage to boards and endpapers. Library plate and card pocket inside front and back boards respectively. No other markings found. A sound example of this wonderful Tesla memento.; Illustration; 8vo.

In 1897. Illustrated with ten clear black and white photos and six diagrams. Text headings include: General Type; The Primary; The Secondary; Indestructible Construction; Motor May Be Suspended at Any Angle; Standards; Power Factor; Efficiency and Speed Regulation; Method of Starting; The Starting Device May be Remote. Printed upon glossy stock. Pages 12-13 provide two detailed tables of standard sizes, approximate dimensions, horsepower ratings and revs. At full load. Please note that the latter two specifications have been overwritten by hand, presumably with updated figures. 9.8" x 6.8". Coverfold mostly open. Was once folded vertically but lies flat. Bits of writing and small label upon front cover. Faint writing on back cover. Bit of moisture staining to upper corner, contents unaffected. Staple holes along spine which is hole-punched, presumably as issued. Includes reprint of an 1892 Electrical Engineer article on "The Tesla Multiphase Motors" plus "Nikola Tesla: The Problem of increasing human energy" reprinted from The Century Magazine, June 1900, 'The Tesla Patents' from Electrical Review, September 19, 1900 and much more. Index card laid in states this copy was presented by Comite yougoslave de l'URSI to Professor Charles. R. Burrows, whose signature appears atop front flyleaf. Printed on poor quality paper which has become embrittled, chipped and yellowed, particularly at extremities. Binding extremely fragile. Please Note: pages 6 through 10 missing. This may not be too dramatic a loss as the Table of Contents omits pages 1-8 and first lists page 9 which may have contained the Preface in Russian. Some pages uncut.
