In den WarenkorbSalvador Dalí (illustrator). First edition. A PRESENTATION COPY FOR DR. ROUCAUTE (Dalí's personal physician), with a SIGNED AND DEDICATED INDIA INK DRAWING BY DALI ON A PRELIMINARY BLANK. Most of Dalí's presentation drawings were done on the spur of the moment in ballpoint or felt-tip pen, and are rather simple compositions. This one, however, is in India ink, with Dalí's characteristic carefully-planned spatter: it was obviously prepared ahead of time for presentation to a close friend, the doctor. The drawing measures 27.5 x 30 cm and features several typical elements of Dalí's iconography: a knight on horseback, an angel, a dedicatory phrase, a signature with a crown, and a date. They are arranged in an absolutely wonderful apparent chaos--making it impossible to know what to look at first, or what to focus on--and yet there is perfect harmony. Large 4to. Publisher's cloth with dustjacket. An excellent copy of the book, WITH THE INDIA INK DRAWING IN PERFECT CONDITION.
