The first translated edition of the memoirs of Jahangir, the fourth Mughal Emperor. First thus. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and numerous in-text images, many of which are in colour. Collated complete. The memoirs of Jahangir, or 'Conqueror of the World', the fourth Mughal Emperor, who ruled from 1605 till his death in 1627. Best recognised now as the father of Shahjahan, who built the Taj Mahal, Jahangir's reign was one of great prosperity, with vast developments in art. Translated, edited, and annotated by Wheeler McIntosh Thackston, an American Orientalist who has edited and translated numerous Chaghatai, Arabic, and Persian literary and historical works. In the original grey cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also excellent with a price sticker to the rear panel. Rear hinge just starting but firm.
